Green Card Applicants Soon Have to Provide Social Media Handles

The United States Department of Homeland Security has taken a process of social media identification a step forward, wherein those applying for green cards or the U.S. citizenship will soon have to provide user name of their social media accounts, according to a report by Times of India.
Applications will still be processed in the absence of social media handles information but they might get delayed. The proposal was laid out in the Federal Register on September 4 and is open for the public opinion.

E-forms D-160 and D-260, filled by tourists, students and those heading to the United States for work, had drop down menu in which applicants had to mention the user name against their social media handles being used by them in the past five years.
