What is going wrong and where it is going wrong seems to be out of reach of the UPA leader’s vision. The recent by-polls in Andhra Pradesh had shown a clear mirror of what was going in the minds of the people. People on both sides of the state seemed to feel let down by the ruling party on many issues. The various reasons credited by the critics focus on one predominant issue, lack of vision by legendary leadership. One thing that Congress could be happy from the by-poll results is its arch rival Telugu Desam Party is in a more delirious situation. That is the only mental solace, that the `Kiran Sarkar’ can derive in the given situation.
As for the Telangana issue is concern, though the struggle was ongoing, it intensified after the Congress backtracked after announcing the proposal in 2009, courtesy to our P Chidambaram and Pillai. Politicians win wars with diplomacy, a true example to this category were the former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi among the two was more versatile given the controversies that prevailed in her time unlike her father and predecessor. But today political heads lack this esteemed quality and turn out to be failures in many instances. Telangana polls in Banswada last year gave the feeling to the Congress that the T sentiment was going a little awry. But this time being pushed to third position in certain places will be a big disadvantage to the party in the general elections due in 2014. The dual stands of the Congress, has been the main sabotage element of its prospects. Well on the other hand TDP is no better situation either.
T sentiment was considered at the behest of the results in the six by-polls of the region. But what happened to the by-poll in Kovvur, where the money flow flooded by both these parties could restrict the YSR Congress to satisfy with just 20,000+ majorities. This is another failure of the ruling party. As for TDP it is only gain of power but from the Congress point it is to retain power, so the struggle needs to be more.
The folly that Congress and TDP had done is giving undue importance to YSR Congress Chief Y Jagan Mohan Reddy. Because of continuous strident against him, today he has turned into a leader. A man who had just entered politics has dictated terms to the age old stalwarts, is worth noting at this juncture. In spite of his abled leadership ability, Jagan rise was phenomenal, in the eyes of the public, and he must sincerely thank the leading parties for his present day fame. As per rumors Jagan was quite instrumental in the Telangana poll results too.
Jagan had been on the CBI radar, but nothing goes beyond media glare and the firm charge sheets are still distant dreams. This is one issue that the public felt offended, I suppose. They never were able to digest the way the Jagan was dealt with by the ruling party. And felt the vindictive stands of the ruling party, which in turn raised popularity filled with sympathy for the young leader.
The most crucial aspects if not addressed by the Congress on a war footing might grow out of proportions exceeding elastic limits. TDP is neither in a better situation and this party also needs to concentrate on its issues more than blaming someone for something. While signing off, one fact is true the Telangana sentiment is high with the people of the region. But is it favoring the TRS, is a big doubt, because of two issues. One is if so, why the majorities declined in the by-polls, secondly why Mahbubnagar the home constituency of the TRS leader went the BJP way…………….. Many unanswered questions that will ever remain in the minds of the people. (With inputs from internet- AarKay)
