The Astronomers announced that they have captured a distant planet that even made its own moon. They say that they have captured an alien moon that is in the making. The planet had enough gas and dust in orbit which can make the size of three moons which are of the earth's size. The astronomers said that there are two Jupiter-like planets that are orbiting around a star about 400 light-years away. One of them seems to be forming a moon. They captured a ring of material that is surrounding the planet. The gravity of the planet captures the dust and the gas surrounded which whips into a spinning disc. As time passes, it forms into a moon. The astronomers said that they are not completely aware of how this process works.
A star itself has a disc-like material and they will turn into planets sometime in the future. Jaehan Bae, a researcher at the Earth and Planets Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution for Science told that the current observations are really important for the theories of the formation of planets. The system is called PDS 70 and the planet that is with the moon disc is called PDS 70c. The current capture is like the same width of the distance between the earth and the sun. The disc can also make three moons of our size as per the reports. The research is published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.
The other planet did not show any signs of a disc. The researchers are in plans to observe the star and its disc more closely through 'Extremely Large Telescope' which is under construction in the Atacama Desert in Chile. This will be the largest visible telescope on earth with infrared light.
