Air Ambulances on Air soon in Hyderabad to Cut Travel Time in Emergencies

Bidding farewell to traffic jams during emergencies, mishaps, and transporting of organs, the Wings Aviation Pvt Ltd in Hyderabad is debuting a 24/7 air ambulance emergency provision, Air Aid, touted to be the foremost of its sort in India. As a part of launch, a mock drill has been executed at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally.
According to officials, an armada of Augusta109 helicopters which travels at a swiftness of 120 nautical miles per hour and cover 50 Km devoid of refueling, haven been roped in for the venture set up with an early investment of Rs. 15 crore.
"Each helicopter is fitted with all necessary medical equipment including a ventilator, aviation oxygen, defibrillator, multiparameter monitor, emergency resuscitation kit, burns kit and medicine kit. There will also be professional pilots, case specific doctors and a medical team to take care of the patient," said Prabhakar Reddy, chairman, Wings Aviation.
The helicopters obtain 15 minutes to commute between two places within Hyderabad. The firm is collaborating with foremost private hospitals like Apollo, to building of helipads to make sure smooth landing in emergency. Transfer and ambulance services at the arrival and departure pots will as well be available.
“At present, the cost per hour per helicopter works out to be Rs 1.5 lakh. Hence, we are trying to collaborate with the government to avail of subsidies on rates,” Reddy said adding that his firm hopes to own at least six helicopters by this year-end.
Air ambulances or air aid services can be utilized during rescue operations, evacuations, fire or natural calamities. The services will be accessible from Begumpet airport and can be contacted on toll-free number-18007582080.
As it is presently being enforced in Hyderabad, the firm hopes to make it reachable in cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Nagpur, Mumbai and some other regions and villages around Telangana and Karnataka shortly.
