On Monday, the Eiffel Tower was reopened and was lit up with blue, white and red, the colors of the French flag, upon the Paris mayor’s request. The lights in the national colors will continue to be lit in the tower for next three days as a memory of those who lost lives in the Paris terror attacks, which happened last Friday, according to Tour Eiffel – to the official Facebook webpage.
The Latin motto of the city, ‘Fluctuat nec Mergitur’, will be projected in the first floor deck onto the Trocodera side. The mottos translations to English says, "She is tossed by the waves but does not sink". The tower lights daily at nightfall and will stay lit till 1 a.m. local time.
The Tower's Facebook page poster wrote, "Long live the Republic, we will never forget you my friends, rest in peace.” "And there will be a reckoning for the barbarians who ended your lives."
Multiple terror attacks in the French capital, Paris, created a horror-filled night. A series of gun as well as bomb attacks killed at least 140 people.
