Today, 14 November 2015, is the 126th birth anniversary of India’s first Prime minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and entire nation is paying tribute to Chaha Nehru today.
Prime Minister Modi tweeted saying that, "Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's life was spent in giving India freedom & leading India as the 1st PM. Tributes to him on his birth anniversary."
Considering the love of Pandit Nehru towards children and his contribution to the education sector, the day is also celebrated as Children's Dayild in India. Among many other who paid tribute to Pt. Nehru at Shantivan include President Pranab Mukherjee, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party leader Rahul Gandhi.
President Mukherjee even showered his blessings as well as wishes on the children. He said that the future of the nation depends on them. He said in a series of tweets that,
"My best wishes and blessings to all the children of this country on the occasion of Children's Day. The future of our nation depends on our children."
"When provided adequate opportunity and guidance, they have immense potential to contribute to society and humanity. We should encourage children to dream big about the future of our nation and explore their potential to the full," the President added.
As part of children's day celebrations in schools, many programs will be arranged, where kids dress up in the trademark attire of Chacha ji not to forget, a red rose on the buttonhole.
