Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Yogi Adityanath headed parliamentary committee has recommended 100 percent hike in the salary of parliamentarians. Apart from a 100 percent hike in salary, the panel has also recommended for increasing the pension of elected representatives from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000.

The panel has advocated for raising the daily allowance of Rs 2,000 for MPs, which they get during Parliament sittings. Also proposed 20-25 free air travels in a year and an additional free AC first class ticket has to be provided for their companion, such as their personal secretary. The panel has recommended the extending of the health benefits given to the MPs to their children and grandchildren.

Parliamentarians with an average earnings of Rs 1.4 lakh per month along with the perks, enjoy a sumptuous meal which is heavily subsidized by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
