In 2010 Baig became the first person to scale the 6,000-metre Chashkin Sar peak in northern Pakistan and the mountain is now named "Samina Peak" in her honour. Now Baig became the first woman from Pakistan to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Samina Baig, 22-year-old Baig, from the small town of Shimshal in the Hunza valley in Pakistan’s mountainous north was known to have climbed the 8,848 metre (29,029 feet) peak early on Sunday after a arduously severe expedition in rough weather. Baig became the first woman from Pakistan to reach the summit of Mount Everest and Pakistan congratulated her on her achievement.
Karrar Haidri, member executive council of Pakistan Alpine Club (PAC), expressed that Baig had raised Pakistan’s name in the world who also told that she is a brave girl who summited the peak and sent them a message of her achievement and the whole Pakistan is feeling proud of her.
To have it as a special mention, she used her own resources and despite rough weather and fears of avalanche she never lost courage even though Baig’s brother Mirza Ali was with her yet was unable to reach the summit as he was unwell.

Arousing a great interest, Baig was among 146 climbers to reach the world’s highest peak on Sunday, including the first woman from Saudi Arabia, Indian sisters who were the first twins, and a British climber who gave a live video interview via his smartphone.
As another fact remain here that Daniel Hughes who was a British mountaineer was interviewed by the BBC in what he called the first live video call from the summit, on the contrary Nepalese officials told AFP that he had broken the law by not seeking official permission to broadcast.
Samina Baig and other climbers
Pakistan happens to be the home to five of the world’s 14 peaks over 8,000 metres, including the world’s second-highest mountain, K2, now on the contrary Haidri mentioned that there is need for more government support in mountaineering while he also added that will be a sincere hope that Samina’s achievement will urge more and more woman to join this sport as well as help them convince the government to give more funds to them for their people to attain higher status in this department.
A big congratulations to the brave lady!
