According authorities in China said on Thursday, nearly 24 million people have been affected by drought in China's various provinces since last October while causing a big financial loss to the government.

Furthermore,Xinhua quoted civil affairs authorities as saying on Thursday that the drought is known to have affected 23.7 million people living in Yunnan, Gansu and Sichuan provinces till date while causing economic losses of more than $1.1 billion.

In fact, The National Disaster Reduction Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Civil Affairs proposed an emergency response to the drought on Thursday and sent work teams to help in disaster relief.

To conclude, the NDRC has also organised meetings to analyse the causes of drought while working out relief measures.

A period of dry weather, especially a long one that is injurious to crops is genuinely a warning for livelihood and needs to be checked before it gets worst.
