The Met Gala this year took place on May 6 in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The night began with a cocktail hour, in which guests walk the red carpet and explore the new exhibition, before sitting down to dinner and the evening's performance.
This year’s theme is 'Camp: Notes on Fashion'. The theme is inspired by Susan Sontag's 1964 essay 'Notes on 'Camp', which is widely credited to have introduced the notion of 'Camp' to the mainstream.
The outfits this year were, therefore, like the exhibition, based on "irony, humor, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality and exaggeration".
