Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has decided to honor H-Town's top actress Angelina Jolie for her humanitarian work, along with actors Angela Lansbury, Piero Tosi and Steve Martin.
While actors Lansbury and Martin will be conferred Honorary Awards, Jolie will be felicitated with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Academy`s 5th Annual Governors Awards on November 16.
AMPAS offers the Humanitarian Award "to an individual in the motion picture industry whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry."
Jolie is highly esteemed for being "an impassioned advocate for humanitarian causes," and her dedication is reflected in some of her films like “In the Land of Blood and Honey.”
"I`m so proud to win an honorary Oscar this year with The Academy, So much love and joy to u all, thank you! Congrats Martin, Lansbury, & Tosi," tweeted Jolie, who won an Oscar for her supporting performance in 1999`s "Girl, Interrupted".
With this, she joins the coveted list of winners that includes hotshot humanitarians like Oprah Winfrey and the DreamWorks Animation CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg.
