Upma is a popular easy to prepare snack or Tiffin item in India, especially South India. Probably it holds a definite place in the menu of every South Indian home. You might have heard about different varieties of upma and might have tried as well. But, have you ever prepared Rava Coconut Upma. Try this different recipe and you will be amazed to see the way your family enjoys it. Here is the recipe of Rava Coconut Upma.

Ingredients required for Rava Coconut Upma

Rava (semolina): 1 cup (serves 2)
Urad dhal: 1 tsp
Musturd seeds: 1/2 tsp
Red chillies: 2
Curry leaves: a bunch
Chana dhal: 1 tsp
Onion: 1 (small) finely chopped
Green chillies: 2 or 3
Ghee: 2 tsp
Oil: 2 tsp
Coconut: 2tblsp (grated)
Water: 1 1/2 cup

How to prepare Rava Coconut Upma

1.    Roast rava in few drops of ghee.
2.    Take a pan, heat oil in the pan, add mustard seeds, channa dhal, fry for a moment till color changes.
3.    Add red chillies, curry leaves, chopped onions, green chillies. Fry till they get cooked.
4.    To the grated coconut, add water and squeeze slightly. Coconut milk comes out.
5.    Add the mixture of coconut and water to the pan, add salt.
6.    Let it boil, keep the flame in simmer.
7.    Keep adding rava, while stirring.
8.    Add ghee and close the pan.
9.    Leave for 5 minutes, till water gets absorbed and rava gets cooked.
10.    Serve with coconut chutney.
