Bollywood audience have been going gaga for sports biopics after which many leading production houses have been busy carving out the biopics of famous sports personalities. After the super success of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Mary Kom, the third one to arrive is Azhar which is said to be the life story of cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin.
Tony D’Souza directed the movie which has been made on a budget of Rs 45 crores and Emraan Hashmi played the lead role as Azharuddin in the movie. Nargis Fakhri and Prachi Desai essayed the female leads in the film and cricketer Azharuddin has taken care of the script work personally and he trained Emraan Hashmi to match his body language in the movie.
The movie released on May 13th all over and it received decent response from the audience. The movie collected Rs 6.30 crores on its first day and the movie made Rs 7 crores on its first Saturday. The movie maintained strength and it collected Rs 8.70 crores on Sunday. Azhar made Rs 22 crores in its first weekend which is decent. This movie stands as the second highest grosser in its first weekend among Emraan Hashmi’s films after Jannat 2 which collected Rs 24 crores.
Balaji Motion Pictures produced Azhar which is said to mint decent money in its first week.
