Akshay Kumar turned 48 this Wednesday. On this occasion he announced his new movie “Rustom”, a romantic thriller, marking his third collaboration with Neeraj Pandey. Rustom is scheduled to release on Independence Day, 2016.

The announcement was made by the Khiladi star by tweeting that, “Thrilled to announce Neeraj Pandey and I are collaborating for a romantic thriller #Rustom releasing on Aug 12, 2016! Hoping to be third time lucky :).”

Earlier, Pandey and Akshay worked together for “Special 26” and “Baby”. In case of “Rustom”, Tinu Suresh Desai is making his debut as the director. The film is co-produced by KriArj Entertainment, Zee Studios and Friday Filmworks. The film is said to be inspired by real life incidents and would feature two young actresses. Pandey himself will pen the dialogues of the film besides co-writing the screenplay along with Vipul Rawal. Pandey would even take part in the editing of the film.

Akshay said in a statement that, “Having worked with Neeraj on two fabulous projects, I am excited to start work on our new film. I’m happy that Zee Studios is putting its might behind this film along with KriArj Entertainment and Friday Filmworks. It gives me and the entire team confidence of this launched worldwide using the global might of Zee.”

Mid-December the Rustom’s first schedule of the shoot will begin and the team will travel to multiple locations across the globe through the production.
