Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has been topping the box office with back-to-back hits for years, but he is currently going through a tough time as most of his films are underperforming. After the Bade Miyan Chote Miyan debacle earlier this year, Akshay's latest film Sarfira, which won Suriya his first National Film Award for Best Actor, was paired with the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, which won him his first National Film Award for Best Actor, was also a colossal failure, adding to the woes. According to a report, the product was made with a total budget of Rs 100 crore and Sarfira minted only Rs 21.5 crore in the domestic market.

However, Akshay is confident that the tide will turn eventually and says that failure teaches the value of success. “I don’t know what to do,” the actor told Forbes India about his recent string of failures. "But we have to learn from the lessons. Every failure teaches you the value of success and makes you even more hungry for success. Luckily, I learned to deal with it early in my career. Of course it will hurt and affect you, but it won't change the fate of the film. It's not something you can control... What you can control is working harder, making up for it and giving it your all for the next film. This is how I channel my energy and focus it where it is important to take the next step" told the actor.

Akshay attributed his success to his discipline and work ethic and said that he works according to schedule and that his mental and physical health has been a priority for him during these years. Talking about the changes in the film industry post Covid-19, the 56-year-old actor said, “This pandemic has definitely changed the dynamics of the film industry. It's quite interesting and unique because audiences are more selective when watching films that deliver have become very important and we are putting more emphasis on the content and making sure we provide an experience that is relevant to our times and is worth going to the cinema for. It not only entertains the audience, it also creates a deep connection with them.” When asked about the biggest hurdle he had to overcome to become a superstar", he said. "Coming from a poor family, the idea of making a film seemed like a distant dream. The industry is very competitive and it takes not only talent but also talent. But I was persistent and persistent, trusted my instincts and focused on my goal" concluded Akshay Kumar.
