Wazir is the story of Danish Ali (Farhan Akhtar) and Panditji (Amitabh Bachchan). While Danish is a ATS Officer who loses his daughter in a shootout during the terrorist attack and his wife (Aditi Rao Hydari) blames him completely for their daughter’s death. They bond with each other playing chess and during this time Panditji asks Ali to investigate a case. The rest of the movie is about what happens next. Watch the complete film to know about the rest.
Analysis :
The first half of Wazir has been interesting and builds up a feel and curiosity about the story. Though the movie has been slow on pace, the gripping narration makes the audience forget about the pace. The songs have been fresh and they have been shot well. The performances by the lead actors elevate the film well. On the whole the complete first half of Wazir has been impressive with the audience eagerly waiting for the second half.
The director failed to maintain the curiosity in the audience and the film gets killed because of the pathetic narration and slow pace. The movie becomes completely predictable and the performances by Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar are the only saviors. Though Wazir has a runtime of 102 minutes, the movie fails to impress the audience. The second half is the complete reason for the film’s downfall.
Performance :
Amitabh Bachchan should be given a special bow for his performance in the movie. His expressions have been top notch and Big B is the major highlight of Wazir undoubtedly. Farhan Akhtar competed with Amitabh and he has done a stupendous job as a suspended and struggling cop. Aditi Rao Hydari has nothing much to do but she has been impressive with her limited screen presence. Neil Nithin Mukesh has been completely wasted and his character could not bring out the needed emotions because of a badly written role.
The story of the film is interesting and it has scope to enhance well with a gripping narration. But it is the screenplay which spoiled the flow and feel of the film. The dialogues of Wazir have been decent. The cinematography and the music along with the background score are the major highlights of the film. The production values have been grand and the editing has been sparkling. Bejoy Nambiar who directed dark thrillers in his past came up with a film of the same genre but he fails to impress the audience like his previous outings.
Final Word:
Wazir shines only because of the performances by the lead actors Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar. A boring and predictable action drama
