Illegal immigrants are lining up in the French port city of Calais waiting for Keir Starmer's Labor government to allow them to stay in the UK, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has claimed. Mr Sonak said Mr Starmer had no plan to deal with the refugee boat crisis and would change Rwanda's deportation policy if elected. The Interior Ministry announced the record number of Channel refugees in the first six months of this year with 12,901 arrivals. This is more than the previous record of 12,747 people who came to the country from January to June 2022. In the last six and a half years, 127,246 people have crossed the English Channel to reach the UK. Mr Sonak defended the government's stance on immigration, saying a Labor government would "release everyone we have detained" and "let them out on the streets". The claims are seen as an attempt to sway public opinion ahead of the July 4 general election against Labor and its leader Keir Starmer. “These illegal immigrants will not get on the plane to Rwanda,” Sonak said. “I don’t care about voting” election debate Sun. “They will be on our streets and putting a strain on our public services. By the way, all I can say now is that they are waiting for the Stormer government to come to power so they can come here and stay here. The Daily Mail reported that they were waiting in line.

Mr Kiir warned that the number of asylum applications would double by the end of the year if the Conservatives remain in power. “There are currently 50,000 cases pending. If Rishi Sunak remains chancellor, the number will rise to 100,000 by the end of the year,” he said, according to The Standard. In April 2022, the British government announced that asylum seekers who had arrived "illegally" from safe countries such as France could be transferred to the Central African country of Rwanda from January 1, 2022. The BBC reported that their asylum claims were being processed in Rwanda, not the UK. People who are successfully recognized as refugees are allowed to stay in Rwanda. If their application is rejected, they either apply for asylum to remain in Rwanda for other reasons or apply for asylum in another safe country. Some of these asylum seekers are not eligible to return to the UK and reapply.

The government believes the plan will deter people from attempting the dangerous Channel crossing in small boats, a major concern of Chancellor Rishi Sunak. The Interior Ministry announced the record number of Channel refugees in the first six months of this year with 12,901 arrivals. This is more than the previous record of 12,747 people who came to the country from January to June 2022. In the last six and a half years, 127,246 people have crossed the English Channel to reach the UK. Downing Street has reiterated its commitment to reducing small boat traffic, despite small boat traffic increasing.
