In a massive train crash on Friday involving three trains 290 were dead and nearly 900 were injured in this horrific incident. This happened after the passenger train derailed with the goods rail. Rescue operations are underway. All the hospitals surrounding the accident area were kept on high alert. National disaster teams and also the state government forces are providing their necessary assistance to the affected. 15 fire rescue teams, 30 doctors, 200 policemen and 60 ambulances are participating in the rescue operations.
The train was going from Howrah to Chennai rammed into the derailed coach of the other train which was going from Bengaluru to Kolkata. This is the deadliest train accident happened in the nation in recent times. The incident involved Howrah Superfast Express, Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express and a goods train.

Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the accident site in the morning. The details for the derail are yet to be known and the inquiry will be done soon. Minister has announced a compensation of Rs 10 L for the deceased, Rs 2 L for the seriously injured and Rs 50000 for minor injuries. PMO has released an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the PMNRF.
