The new number of monkeypox cases have been increasing across the globe. The World Health Organization (WHO) warned the people to be extra cautious about the huge spread of monkeypox cases. The WHO asked all those men who have sex with other men to limit themselves with their sexual partners for time being. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus declared monkeypox as a global health emergency and he urged everyone to reduce the risk of exposure to protect against the infection. He said "For men who have sex with men, this includes, for the moment, reducing your number of sexual partners, reconsidering sex with new partners, and exchanging contact details with any new partners to enable follow-up if needed,".
The number of monkeypox cases have been increasing since May in the Central and West African countries and the disease in these nations has long been endemic. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that there are a lot of monkeypox cases reported in 78 countries and 70 percent of them have been reported in Europe and 25 percent of them in USA. Five deaths of monkeypox are reported since May across the globe. 10 percent of the infected are getting admitted to hospitals. The reports said that 98 percent of the cases have occurred in men who are having sex with men. The study was published in New England Journal of Medicine last week. It said that 98 percent of the infected are gays or bisexual men.
