A massive earthquake has hit Afghanistan and the magnitude was reported as 6.1. Close to 280 people have killed because of this massive earthquake and more than 600 people got injured. The death toll is expected to increase and the rescue operations are underway. The earthquake took place in the hilly region and in remote villages that are located on the mountains. The earthquake took place at 44 km from the city of Khost which is near to the border of Pakistan as per the US Geological Survey. The locals told that the earthquake was strong enough. The Afghan media shared the photographs and the houses were lost into rubble. The dead bodies are covered with the blankets.
Most of the people from the eastern province of Paktika lost their lives. 255 people lost their lives in the region alone. Reaching the remote villages of Afghanistan is taking ample time and the rescue operations in some of the villages is yet to start. Helicopters are used to reach the location and shift the injured. The shake was felt in Pakistan, Afghanistan and India. Afghanistan has been battling with severe economic crisis after the Taliban took over the country in August 2021. The US forces were asked to leave the country after two decades of war.
