The new variant of coronavirus named Omicron is shaking the globe and the new cases witnessed a huge rise in the recent weeks across several countries. The Omicron variant appears to be no worse than the other variants of coronavirus told some of the top scientists from USA and the World Health Organization (WHO). They said that more research is currently being conducted to judge the severity of the variant. The initial reports said that the virus is more transmissible than other variants and the new cases increased by huge number in South Africa where this variant emerged.
The World Health Organization also said that Omicron is more transmissible that the previous variants and the impact of vaccination on the variant is yet to be traced. The preliminary information said that the variant is not more severe. WHO Emergencies Director Micheal Ryan said that more research is needed for further conclusions. WHO said that the current vaccines are highly effective against all the variants. The new variant is now in more than 50 countries of the globe and the cases are increasing at a faster note. Anthony Fauci, a top scientist in USA said that Omicron did not appear to be worse as per the early indications and there are possibilities that the symptoms and impact may be mild. Anthony Fauci also said that the variant is not more severe than Delta.
