After a bunch of American lawmakers urged the USA President Joe Biden to stand as a support for the move by India and South Africa for a temporary and emergency waiver of Trade related aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) which are introduced by his predecessor Donald Trump. They said that this would help to enable a greater production, the supply of coronavirus vaccines. India and South Africa approached the World Trade Organization (WTO) seeking a limited waiver of the TRIPS agreement that was made. Donald Trump and his government opposed the move in the past.
Lawmakers Rosa DeLauro, Jan Schakowsky, Earl Blumenauer, Lloyd Doggett, Adriano Espaillat, and Andy Levin asked the President to support the move for India and South Africa. They said that more than 60 US representatives will write to the President to announce the support for the TRIPS waiver that is proposed by India along with South Africa. This allows the countries along with the manufacturers to directly access and share the technologies for coronavirus vaccines without any international disputes and the trade sanctions.
Joe Biden will have to reverse the damage that is done by the administration of Donald Trump. The lawmakers said that it's time for the globalized systems to recover at the earliest and this can be done if the vaccination is available in every corner of the globe. They said that Joe Biden will have to take this move to end the pandemic soon and start the recovery of the economy. Joe Biden and his administration already hinted to work together with all their allies.
