Indian-origin Preeti Sinha turns UN Capital Development Fund Lead

Development banker Preeti Sinha has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the UN Capital Development Fund and she would focus on providing micro-finance assistance for women along with youth and small enterprises in the under-served communities. Preeti Sinha took up the position from Monday as UNCDF Executive Secretary which happens to be the highest leadership rank in the institution. The headquarters are in New York and it provides microfinance for the least developed countries of the globe. Preeti Sinha will be responsible for the efforts to deliver an import and plan the international finance work.

Preeti Sinha issued a statement saying that she is working at the aim to make 'C' in UNCDF in mobilizing the manifold and develop a new era of engagement with the capital markets this year. Preeti Sinha is the successor for Judith Karl who retired in February after serving for 30 years in the United Nations. UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner said: "UNCDF's support for the world's Least Developed Countries is critical, and I look forward to continuing the strong partnership between our organizations into the future". Preeti Sinha will work with local governments and small businesses. She will oversee the last mile, finance models.

Preeti Sinha has three decades of global experience across investments and development finance. Preeti Sinha earlier served as the CEO of FFD that is a specialist development finance firm in Geneva. She also managed YES Global Institute in the past.
