Alice G. Wells, Acting Assistant Minister of South and Central Asia in the United States, on Saturday said Chandrayaan-2, the space mission, is a huge step forward for India. She also congratulated Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for its tremendous efforts to place ‘Vikram’ lander of Chandrayaan-2 on the Moon’s south pole.
Stating India will “no doubt” achieve its space aspirations, the U.S. diplomat in a tweet posted on the page of U.S. Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs said: “We congratulate ISRO on their incredible efforts on Chandrayaan2. The mission is a huge step forward for India and will continue to produce valuable data to fuel scientific advancements. We have no doubt that India will achieve its space aspirations.”

Chairman of ISRO K Sivan On Saturday said the lunar lander Vikram has been located on the moon’s surface and the ground station is working to establish contact.

The space agency is putting all the efforts to restore a link with Chandrayaan-2’s lander, which was designed to carry out a soft landing on the surface of lunar and to function for one lunar day, but according to experts, the time is running out and the possibility of re-establishing communication looks less and less probable.
