INX Media Case: History of the Case That Led to Chidambaram’s Arrest

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday arrested India’s former finance minister P Chidambaram from his residence after agency sleuths scaled walls top gain access to the bungalow. He was arrested in connection with the INX media case.

According to investigative agencies’ claim, when Chidambaram was serving as a finance minister in 2007, he granted approval to INX Media after which foreign investment of Rs 305 crore allegedly came in this company. Though the Permission was given to put only five crores the INX Media invested more than 300 crores. With an intent to protect self, INX Media hatched a plot with Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram and made every effort to influence government officials. It has been also claimed that Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram had taken a bribe.
