The first meeting to finalize the modalities for setting up the Kartarpur corridor was held on Thursday at Attari-Wagah Border on the Indian side.
In the meeting, both the countries made an agreement to work expeditiously operationalizing the corridor.
The Indian officials said they had asked Pakistan to allow 5,000 pilgrims to Kartarpur Gurudwara every day and the shrine should be open for Indian pilgrims. The next meeting will be held at Wagah on April 2, 2019.
The meeting was held in the wake of rising tension between both the countries due to the February 14 Pulwama attack in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed.
