Navy Chief: Have Reports Of Terrorists Being Trained To Carry out Attacks Through Sea

Addressing a gathering global experts at the Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue in Delhi, Naval Chief Sunil Lanba said that the recent terror attack on Indian soil was perpetuated by extremists and were aided by a state to ‘destabilise’ India.
"The Indo-pacific region has witnessed multiple forms of terrorism in recent years and few countries in this part of the world have been spared by this cause,” he said.
He said, “Global nature which terrorism has acquired in recent times has further enhanced the scope of this threat... India, however, faces a far more serious version of this state-sponsored terrorism.”
“We have all witnessed the horrific scale of extremists attack in the Indian state of Jammu, just three weeks ago. This violence was perpetuated by extremists, aided by a state which seeks to destabilise India,” he added.
He further said, “We also have reports of terrorists being trained to carry out operations in various modus operandi including through the medium of the sea.”
"We have seen how quickly terror groups evolve across the globe. A particular brand of terror can well become a global problem in near future," he states.
He appealed to global community to eliminate menace of terrorism, "it is imperative that the global community works in concert to contain and eliminate terrorism in all its forms".
