ICE Arrests On Raise In Georgia, North Carolina And South Carolina

Hundreds of people were arrested all across the country in the week of 5th February, 2017, during an enforcement operation conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as per the news release.

Trump administration has boosted the arrests of unauthorized immigrants in Georgia and also in North Carolina and South Carolina by 75 percent in this year as compared to the last year, according to the figures obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Between the dates of Jan. 20 and April 29, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement made 4,246 apprehensions in its operations in the Atlanta area, which includes Georgia, North Carolina and also South Carolina. Which is up from last year, when former President Barack Obama was in the office and there were 2,429 arrests.

And it exceeds the nationwide 38 percent increase in the ICE arrests for the same period of time. Since Donald Trump took the office, 41,318 people have been arrested on the charges of civil immigration across the country, up from 30,028 during the the same period in the last year.

Trump campaigned vigorously on cracking down the illegal immigration. And once he took the office, he signed a pair of executive orders to ratchet up the enforcement.

“These statistics reflect President Trump’s commitment to enforce our immigration laws fairly and across the board,”the acting ICE director Thomas Homan said in a statement prepared in this week.
