There was a news from the Yerawada jail authorities that Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt today left the Yerawada jail here for Mumbai on a 14-day leave sanctioned to him on eligibility criteria. It was further known from the jail superintendent Yogesh Desai who told PTI that Sanjay Dutt, serving sentence under the Arms Act for illegal possession of weapons in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, left the prison at around 9.30 AM after his pending application for leave of absence was sanctioned by the authorities.
Desai said that good conduct is one of the criteria for awarding furlough, which is sanctioned from prisoner's accumulated leave. The move was followed on days subsequent to a cultural programme, organised by prison administration intending to increase a welfare fund in which the Bollywood actor was to take part, was delayed until a future time. The prison authorities postponed the show which was earlier mentioned for September 26 referring to the security reasons.
