After what seemed like a never-ending wait, Pakistan's apex court finally gave a go-ahead to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to initiate an immediate probe against ex-president Pervez Musharraf for imposing emergency rule in 2007 and suspending the constitution.
Accused of 'high treason', the 69-year-old retired general has been charged of abrogating the constitution and confining dozens of top judges to their homes for refusing to take oath under his Provisional Constitutional Order.
A panel of three judges led by Supreme Court Justice Jawad S Khawaja ordered the FIA investigators to conduct immediate probe and bring Musharraf to justice.
Musharraf currently remains under house arrest in his farmhouse in Islamabad.
