After a US military drone strike on Wednesday, it was reported that the top second official in the Pakistan Taliban was killed. Three security officials confirmed that the chief of Pak Taliban, Wali-ur-Rehman was killed in the drone strike conducted in North Waziristan region of Pakistan today.
This is expected to be a big achievement in the fight against terrorism rising in the world. The deceased was expected to be next in line to the current leader Hakimullah Mehsud of Pakistan Taliban according to a senior army official based in the South Waziristan tribal region, the group's stronghold.
These militants from Pakistan are different from the Afghan Taliban. They are distinct with their identity as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a group known to have caused incalculable devastations and loss of lives. However, the drone kills are not easy to verify. The militants close up the area posing threat to any journalists or officials who come near the area to check for the deaths.
