Afghan President Seeks Increased Indian Military Aid

Hamid Karzai who is an Afghan President will try and secure more military aid in talks with Indian leaders on Tuesday as he looks to reinforcing his security forces after international troops pull out next year while also to hold talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee after accepting an honorary degree on Monday night from the Lovely Professional University in the northern state of Punjab.

As an interesting fact, India was known to have provided billions of dollars in aid to Afghanistan since the fall of the Taleban in 2001, and is known to having a strong feeling to safeguard that no radical Islamist regime takes power in Kabul after US and other foreign forces leave in 2014. Furthermore, Aimal Faizi, who is his spokesman said that Karzai will ask for all kinds of assistance from India having an intention to strengthen their military and security institutions during his talks in the capital New Delhi. While an Indian foreign ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said discussions would cover a potential arms deal between the two countries and that India is ready to meet any request that would strengthen Afghan security institutions.

India and Afghanistan began a 'strategic partnership'

Karzai is known to be visiting India to discuss a potential arms deal. As another matter f fact, India has been training a limited number of Afghan military officers for years at its military institutions, yet has provided little weapons assistance except for some vehicles. In fact, any Indian activity in Afghanistan is known to trigger discomfort in neighbouring rival Pakistan, which fears to suffer losses in it's influence in Afghanistan. Moreover, the former Taleban regime was joined by treaty with Pakistan and gave refuge to actively poisonous anti-Indian extremists. Even though, India has been noteworthy cool about US-backed attempts to negotiate a peace settlement with Taleban elements.

Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai while speaking on a visit to Washington in February, said that New Delhi sees little dividing line between Al Qaeda and other militants. Subsequently he doubted that these groups and those who support them have either had an manifestation or made a real strategic reassessment of their objectives.

Furthermore, Afghanistan’s ambassador to India mentioned earlier this month that the country needs India’s help with equipment and weapons while they were hoping to promote defence ties. While also in 2011 India and Afghanistan began a ‘strategic partnership’ focused at strengthening security and economic links.

There lies another interesting factor that Karzai happens to be a regular visitor to India added to spent time as a student in the northern resort city of Shimla. Karzai was previously in New Delhi in November during which he intended to influence Indian business leaders bringing out the elements of quality that Afghanistan's richness for investment was dominant in addition to  a ‘red carpet welcome’ followed by encouragement.

Anything which helps in gaining peace should be obtained and encouraged because that's the only thing which if not maintained generates rage, chaos and nonsensical situation in the life of the innocents throughout the world.
