A man has been charged with possessing drugs after police allegedly found them in a stuffed teddy bear.

Colonel Ebrahim Al Zaabi, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said officers found around 4,300 anaesthetic pills, three kilograms of hashish, 0.25kg of heroin and a number of syringes filled with narcotics at the home of the man, who is in his 20s.

According to  Al Zaabi, the drugs were found stuffed in a teddy bear and a water cooler on the roof of his home.

Al Zaabi continued saying that  after monitoring the suspect for two months, police officers captured him in a carefully planned operation and that the accused made his movement carefully so he does not get caught and that he even targeted customers from different age groups for this purpose. In fact, the suspect also allegedly served a prison sentence for a previous drug charge and his father has been imprisoned in a similar case since June 2012 in another emirate.

According to police, the suspect’s father has been involved in several drug-trading cases since 1991.

Al Zaabi urged all parents to monitor their children especially in their youth to prevent them going down a similar path.

Al Zaabi said that the families who deal with their children in a harsh way make their young ones feel the urge to be independent which causes teenagers to seek privacy and form their own personalities. As a result of negative impact and getting influenced by their parents’ harsh treatment, a youth may deviate into the paths of drug abuse.

To conclude, families and parents should understand the negativity of being harsh to their young one's as it genuinely leaves them helpless while they adopt committing wrong doings and ruining their life.
