Well overseas rights that filled the coffers of the Mumbai movie land producers, is now turning a bane for the films that had story lines that drew parallel scripts with their global counterparts. Exploring more markets and increasing the budgets seem to give the Mumbai film fraternity the much required boost. But off late the exploration has also invited the wrath of the story tellers worldwide, who felt that their original ideas were duplicated.
The latest caught in the act is `Jodi Breakers’, which seems to be inspired from the French film hit List and the producers of the original, have sued the Indian counterparts for Rs 50 Cr legally. Universal Pictures International France and Ors (a co-producer of Heartbreakers and a part of American entertainment company NBC Universal Inc) has filed a case against the Jodi Breakers producers in the Bombay High Court for infringement of copyright.
