The Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) that has marked its name as one of the best government run transportation in the country has took a giant leap a few years back by introducing air-conditioned buses to several parts of the state from the capital city-Hyderabad.
Now that summer blues are troubling people, even those who usually don’t board a/c buses are wishing to beat the heat while travelling. Therefore, RTC is going to introduce 22 more Sheetal buses that shuttle between different areas of the city for about 108 trips in a day and 50 Indra buses that run between Hyderabad and several other areas including Tirupati.
It may be noted that the air-conditioned buses received good response from the public when the first service Volvo shuttled between Hyderabad and other cities. Later the better body with multi axle was introduced and that too received good response.
However, given the cost of a/c buses, many people didn’t shift from non a/c luxury buses to a/c Volvo. It was then APSRTC looked into this issue and introduced a new a/c service Indra that runs on Ashok Leyland engine.
The ticket price to travel on this vehicle was between luxury and Volvo bus. Later, keeping in view the summer blues and large number of people who sweat to the core while commuting between different places in the city, RTC introduced local services with air conditioning. Many people appreciated this initiative and hailed RTC. Now, RTC is introducing 50 more Indra services for the convenience of the public.
