A school bus overturned while moving in to the adjacent flowing river killing 14 students. The school bus in Khammam district in the Chandragonda Mandal overturned in to the Tungabhadra River, in the afternoon while the students were being ferried by the bus home. The school bus belonging to the L V Reddy School situated in the Kothagudem Mandal ofg the district. The bus was carrying 50 students totally. Immediately rescue team flung into action, but 14 students died in water. More than 20 students were injured and were shifted to hospitals for treatment.

The grave incident evoked instant response from the rescue teams and locals who helped in rescuing the students. The bus was washed away by the water currents and rescue teams had a tough job on hands. But unfortunately 14 of the students died in the water. The injured were undergoing treatment. The reasons for the accident are yet to be established. Reports about the crew are also not very clear, at the moment.
