In a major relief for the villa and plot owners in the controversial Emaar Hills Township at Hyderabad, the AP High Court today ordered the APIIC to register the plots and villas to the people who bought them.
Dismissing the Government’s GO withholding the registrations, the court said there was no need to stop the registrations in favour of the buyers in the wake of the on-going CBI investigation into the APIIC-Emaar land scam.
“Just because you register the villas in the name of the buyers, CBI will not face any hurdles in the process of investigation,” the HC told the government and the APIIC. The court ordered the villa owners to pay at the rate of Rs.15,000 per square yard to the APIIC and get the villas registered in their names.
The government has issued the GO withholding registrations after the CBI began investigation into the APIIC-Emaar land scam saying registrations would not be allowed till completion of the probe.
The villa buyers challenged the GO in the HC arguing they should not be put to trouble for the faux pas committed by the government and the APIIC. (J)
