Story
Ammammagarillu is a family treat with a bunch of known Telugu actors. It is the story of two brother-in-laws (Rao Ramesh and Suman) who parts ways due to ego clashes. Right after twenty years, Santosh (Naga Shaurya) starts his efforts of re-uniting the family through his ammamma Seetha Mahalakshmi (Sumithra). All the family members will be called with the name of property distribution and it is when all the family members bond together. The rest of Ammammagarillu is all about how they bring back their happiness in their lives.
Analysis
Ammammagarillu has a decent first half and all the characters have been introduced well. The love story looks decent and the emotional connect has been well established. Decent background score and top notch performances make the first half passable. Naga Shaurya shines in the assigned role with perfection and is a treat to watch. His funny one-liners make huge noise across the plexes. On the whole the first half keeps up the bars high for the second half.
It may be a shock but the second half of Ammammagarillu is a huge disappointment. The emotional drama looks over dosed and most of the film looks predictable. The performances alone are the saviors and the movie dips down further during the pre-climax. The second half looks repeated again and again with the bunch of actors and with a huge dose of drama. The climax looks simple and predictable.
Performance
Naga Shaurya has been top notch with his packed performance throughout. He looks energetic and has been outstanding in the emotional episodes. Shamili is a treat to watch and she is sure a good performer. Rao Ramesh has been a treat and he dominates the bunch of actors with his presence and dialogue delivery. He excelled as a frustrated son and all the other actors have been decent in their assignments.
Ammammagarillu has no new story and it is a regular family entertainer with a bunch of actors. The music and the background score looks decent. The screenplay and dialogues make no impact. The cinematography, editing work and the production values have been decent. Debutant Sundar Surya fails to re-create the magic with this family entertainer because of the poor writing and execution.
Final Word
Ammammagarillu makes no impact because of the poor writing skills and the bad execution. Predictable plot and dragged narration makes the film fall flat.
