Story
Raja (Sharwanand) is a fun going guy who is not responsible. His father is a man who is honest and prefers social service. Inspite of being insulted many times by his father, Raja spends most of the time with his cousin Seenu (Prabhas Srinu) drinking and wasting time. One fine day Raja falls in love with Ammu (Surabhi) and to impress her, he kidnaps a puppy which changes his life. The characters start entering Raja’s life because of the puppy and the rest of the film is how he solved out all the problems ending up winning his love for Ammu. Analysis :
The first half of the film takes of well with loads of entertainment throughout. Sharwanand, Prabhas Srinu and Sapthagarini impresses highly with their comic timing which is the major highlight of the first half. Though the first half has nothing much to reveal about the plot, the entertainment throughout makes the first half end up impressive.
The second half of Express Raja has been confusing with too many twists and twirls playing the major role. With too many characters making their entry at regular intervals, the movie dips badly and the entertainment levels get reduced. The climax of the film has been shot in an interesting way. On the whole the second half of Express Raja is just ok but not that impressive.
Performance :
Sharwanand who took a turn towards commercial entertainers has come up with an entertaining and energetic performance once again. He carried the entire film on his shoulders with his comic timing throughout. Prabhas Srinu and Sapthagiri are the other highlights of the film. Surabhi has been beautiful and impressed with her stupendous performance. Urvashi and Supreet too entertained the audience with their assigned roles. All the other actors have been decent with their performances.
The story of the film has nothing new to reveal but the twists at regular intervals make the plot impressive. The screenplay and the dialogues of Express Raja have been decent. The music and the background score are said to be the major highlights of Express Raja. The cinematography has been stupendous throughout and the production values are undoubtedly the major highlights of Express Raja. Merlapaka Gandhi preferred entertainment rather than the plot and Express Raja has been turned out decent.
Final Word:
Express Raja ends up as a decent and romantic comedy entertainer despite of some flaws in the second half. Sharwanand delivers out his career’s best performance.
