There was a study which exposed during Wednesday about the ancestor of all creatures with jaws and a backbone was not a sleek, shark-like beast but a toothless, armoured fish. The study was said to be rewriting Man's evolutionary history.

Further on the Scientists expressed that they had discovered a 419-million-year-old fish fossil in China which contradicts the long-held theory that modern animals characterized by bony skeletons (osteichthyans) developed gradually from a shark-like creature accompanied by a frame made of cartilage. The osteichthyan group includes most living fish, humans and other land animals with limbs.

In fact, it had long been a matter of consideration that modern-day cartilaginous fish such as sharks and rays, which form a sister group to osteichthyans known to most closely portray the original jawed ancestor that gave instance of rising of the two animal types.

Highly mysterious indeed!
