Indian tennis player Purav Raja kept the Indian challenge at the Atlanta Open going as he and Ken Skupski won an exciting quarter-final on Friday.
Raja and Skupski of Great Britain triumphed 3-6, 6-1, (11-9) against Taylor Fritz of the United States of America and Cameron Norrie of Great Britain.
The top-seeded pair of Divij Sharan and Artem Sitak bowed out after a 4-6, 5-7 defeat to the unseeded pair of Romain Arneodo and Jeremy Chardy. From the tournament, Leander Paes and his American partner Jamie Cerretani had as well made a first round exit.
All the Indians were crashed out of the Swiss Open in Gstaad with Vishnu Vardhan, N Sriram Balaji and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan going down in the doubles contest. Vishanu and Sriram lost in a tough battle to Guido Andreozzi and Jaume Munar. The Indian duo went down 7-6(9), 3-6, (9-11).
Jeevan and his American partner Austin Krajicek lost 1-6, 0-6 to the second-seeded pair of Santiago Gonzalez and Joao Sousa.
At the International Tennis Federation F1 Futures in Indonesia, fourth seed Aryan Goveas retired during the third set in his quarter-final match against Quentin Robert.
