The cricket world was stunned by the victory of Afghanistan against England in the World Cup 2023 match, which happened at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi on Sunday. This is their first-ever win against a Test-playing nation. England was bowled out for 215 after Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman took 8 wickets together.
England won the toss and elected to bat first against Afghanistan.
Afghanistan left 284/10 (49.5 overs) on the scoreboard. Rahmanullah Gurbaz is the star batsman for Afghanistan with 80(57) and Ikram Alikhil also scored 58(66). Adil Rashid from England gave a spell of 3/42(10) and Mark Wood 2/50(9).
England was all out at 215 (40.3 overs). Harry Brook 66(61) is their highest score player followed by Dawid Malan 32(39). Rashid Khan was impressive with his ball leaving 3/37 (9.3 overs) along with Mujeeb Ur Rahman 3/51(10).
Mujeeb Ur Rahman is the player of the match because of his wonderful performance with the ball and bat.
Hasgmatullah Shahidi, Afghanistan captain was quite happy over their win against England. He said that this was the best win and said, his whole country would be proud of this win.
While England captain Jos Buttler was disappointed with the loss and he congratulated Afghanistan for their historic victory.
