The team Mumbai Indian led by skipper Rohit Sharma have clinched their second IPL title by thrashing Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs at Eden Gardens on Sunday night.
While Rohit Sharma (50) and Lendl Simmons (68) pair in final of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 proved to be vital in scoring a total run of 202 for Mumbai Indian, Harbhajan Singh (2 for 34) and Mitchell McCleneghan (3 for 25) did the star turn with the ball for Mumbai Indian (MI) to be crowned as the winner.
It seems to be fairy tale win for MI this IPL season. MI had won just one out of their first five matches. Later on they took the field by their outstanding win on nine out of their next ten.
For MS Dhoni’s CSK (Chennai), it turned out to be yet another opportunity lost. With this season loss, the count has shoot- up by four of the six IPL finals.
"This victory is the sweetest one because people wrote us off (after four consecutive defeats). It was a matter of putting everything together...credit to all the boys. They showed great character." quoted Rohit Sharma who emerged as Man of the Match.
"It was great fun. The team worked hard and stayed together in tough times. I gave my inputs when they were needed." said Sachin Tendulkar, the mentor of MI.
