Will Australia ever stop warring with England? We guess no, not after what transpired in last day's Ashes match.

The bitter rancour between Kevin Pietersen and Michael Clarke proved that things weren't to improve between the two warring sides.

“No one likes you, Kevin,” is what Michael Clarke is believed to have told him during the soporific match.

Until now, there have been sporadic tiff  in this series, but the two teams have mostly stayed away from industrial-scale sledging.

But Pietersen, who was dropped as England captain in 2009, immediately retorted, “No one likes you either, and you’re the captain.”

This battle between the two ‘metrosexuals’ to depict each other as outcasts was not only entertaining but informative.

Umpire Aleem Dar  had to intervene to calm the fevered brows: “Calm down, it's only the Ashes,” he said.

The spat brought into light Australia's rising frustration. Desperate for a win, the Australian side retorted back to their “sledgy” ways to disrupt Pietersen's flow.

But they forgot that the Oval is Pietersen’s stage. “He was bound to control the narrative as he endeavoured to draw level with Herbert Sutcliffe as the only batsman to score five Test centuries on this ground.”
