Following the shocking death of  Glee star Cory Monteith, singer Ozzy Osbourne has tipped teenyboppers and youngsters to shun drugs.

The 64-year-old heavy metal singer, who has battled addiction for ages, said that just because he pulled out of it doesn't mean that everybody can handle it.

Monteith, who died of alcohol and heroin overdose in his hotel room in July 13, is yet another example of senseless and fatal addiction.

"I went through all that and I survived. But I haven't got that many friends who I used to do it with. They're all dead... I'm living on borrowed time. Don't think that if Ozzy Osbourne can stay alive through it, that you can. It doesn't work like that," he was quoted  saying.

The "Dreamer" singer confessed that he thought drugs and alcohol inspired his creativity, but later realized it was 'crap'.

He said: "I used to think that I couldn't write songs or perform without a drug or a drink inside me and that's just a load of c**p.

"You don't need alcohol and you don't need drugs to make music and have fun. In recent months I had another go at it and it nearly destroyed me again," he added.
