American journalist, film critic and screenwriter, Roger Ebert passed away on Thursday barely 10 days before his international festival. Ebertfest, an international film festival, was founded by him and takes place annually. This year, it was scheduled to take place in mid April. The organizers of Ebertfest have said that despite his demise, the fest would go as per the schedule.

The statement released by the organizers of Ebertfest has mentioned that everyone of the committee were saddened by the sudden demise of Roger Ebert. The statement also mentioned that he was legendary personality who inspired journalists and film lovers across the world. However, as a true tribute to this personality, 17th edition of Ebertfest will take place, as scheduled, from April 17 to April 21.

It may be noted that Roger Ebert was a noted journalist and also a film personality who had been battling with thyroid cancer. On April 4, he gave up and passed away.
