The agent is shot dead while trying to send a code red message to India. In India, the head of RAW sees the incomplete message. All it contains is a number 242. Enter Agent Vinod. Vinod (Saif Ali Khan) is the kind of agent who first kicks the door open and then finds out what’s behind it. His unconventional approach puts him in dangerous situations but he manages to get the crucial leads. Vinod is sent to Moscow to investigate why his colleague was killed. Vinod leaves for Moroccco, where he meets an elderly mafiosi Kazan and the beautiful but mysterious Dr Ruby. A series of twists and turns take Vinod across the globe from Marrakesh to Riga, Karachi to Delhi and finally London, where he discovers the ultimate conspiracy.

Analysis :

Agent Vinod

The film lacks any underlying tone of humour, despite the potential. That makes the proceedings somewhat dry. The dialogues are plain functional. Pooja Ladha Surti's editing is smart and sassy and the long runtime doesn't hurt much. The action is slick but doesn't stand out. CK Muraleedharan's cinematography is competent. The background score which derives from James Bond signature tune and RD Burman numbers works well.

Performance :

Agent Vinod

Thankfully, the Director does not tries to over blow the story or the stars. Saif Ali Khan’s good screen presence and looks confident and convincing. Playing a spy herself, Kareena Kapoor boasts of a decent role and sufficient screen-time. Ravi Kishan is impressive in a cameo. Adil Hussain has a menacing screen presence. Dhritiman Chatterjee is good. Ram Kapoor is laughable. Maryam Zakaria and Malika Haydon add to the glam quotient. Rest all the team did their bit for the film.

Final Word: ‘Agent Vinod’ for all those ‘Spy’ like films lovers.
