Parenting is a wonderful experience, but it also comes with a lot of responsibilities. During a child's formative years, they learn important analytical skills that will help them throughout their life. It is the parents’ job to help them develop these skills. In today's fast-paced world, every parent wants their child to have an advantage over others. Although it may seem like a daunting task for new parents, it is actually quite simple. Here are some tips to help you enhance your child's cognitive abilities.

Teach your child to be open and transparent with their thoughts and actions. Encourage them to talk about their problems without fear or hesitation. Hiding emotions and thoughts at a young age can have negative impacts on child development. It is important to instil courage in your child from an early age to help them face their problems head-on. Encourage them to come up with solutions to problems instead of fleeing from them. Foster creativity and critical thinking skills, so that they can overcome obstacles with confidence. Lastly, help your child recognize when they are engaging in negative thinking. Encourage your child to engage in self-reflection exercises, whether through journaling or open conversations. Help them identify negative phrases like “I can’t” or “I’m not good enough”, and discuss common obstacles such as fear of failure, peer pressure, or low self-esteem. These exercises promote a positive outlook for your child.

Playing both indoor and outdoor games is important for your child's growth. Join in when you can and choose games that challenge their minds. Physical exercise is also crucial for developing coordination between body and mind, leading to better overall growth. Exercise boosts mental strength, improving cognitive function, emotional regulation, and physical health. While it's important to be a support system for your child, encourage them to find their own solutions to problems and become self-reliant. And remember, proper sleep and a healthy diet are vital for your child's development, so make sure to prioritize these as a parent.
