A team of businessmen and experts from Sri Lanka is expected to visit the city on April 6 to explore opportunities in and around Visakhapatnam. This promise was given to a team from the city, which recently returned after their visit during March 2-7 to Sri Lanka to explore business opportunities and exchange programmes. The Sri Lankan team comprising 30 members is expected to spend sometime in Hyderabad and Chennai before landing here.
They will have interaction with various organisations, visit some industries and attend power point presentation by the officials. “The response during our visit was quite encouraging and we want to strengthen our ties by exploring business of mutual interest,” Vizagpatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry honorary secretary M.V. Narayana Rao told The Hindu on Sunday. He said delegates deputed by the Chamber of Commerce had specialists in solar power, logistics, education, electrical, contracts, shipping, and advertising.
The team from Visakhapatnam met the members of Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Colombo. A meeting was arranged for the visiting team to give a presentation on opportunities in trade and commerce of the island country. Bankers, government officials, and educationalists were also invited to the meeting. The team discussed various opportunities available in different sectors and resolved to take initiatives to explore opportunities in education, electrical, and contracts. The team also invited entrepreneurs and experts from Sri Lanka to have a first-hand opportunity on the investment scenario in Visakhapatnam.
They immediately accepted the invitation. Mr. Narayana Rao said the idea of their visit to Sri Lanka was to improve the relationship through various business opportunities.
