Priyadarshan, an Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter, has chosen to make a comeback after a lengthy break with a film on social awareness with a backdrop of AIDS.
The director earlier narrated the story to Aamir Khan, who liked the concept and wanted a clear script. As Priyadarshan took a long time to complete it, the film is now being planned to be made in Tamil.
Lead role is expected to be played by Prakash Raj and Shreya Reddy, who were previously starred in Priyadarshan’s National Award Winning movie, named 'Kanchivaram'. Additionally, 14 new actors are expected to play supporting roles in this social awareness film, to be produced by director Vijay.
One of the pioneers amid south Indian filmmakers, Priyadarshan is planning to shoot the film in 20 days and within a budget of approximately Rs 2.5 crores. Sabu Cyril, an art director, will make a pathology lab set for the movie and Santhosh Sivan will be the cinematographer.
“My next is a social awareness film on AIDS in Tamil with Prakash Raj and Shreya Reddy in the lead with 14 new actors in supporting cast. Santosh Sivan is the cinematographer, while Sabu Cyril will be the production designer and Beena Paul as editor. The film is an attempt to create awareness about AIDS, but will not be a morbid film, in fact I guarantee you that it will make you smile and has a very touching end,” Priyadarshan said to Sify.com.
